Micro Credit, Mega Impact: A New Chapter for Bestrock SACCO

When you walk through the vibrant markets, it’s hard to miss the stories of transformation. Behind every fresh vegetable stall, transport business, retail shop, or tailoring shop is a story of resilience, hope, and empowerment.

At the heart of these stories is Bestrock SACCO, an institution that has always believed in the power of its people — business owners, SMEs, and agripreneurs.

Today, we’re writing a new chapter by financing individuals within micro credit groups — both men and women — who are turning small loans into big opportunities.

Our Aim: Empowering Individuals, Strengthening Groups

For years, many rural entrepreneurs had the skills and determination, but not the capital. We understand that while groups offer solidarity and accountability, the dreams and goals of our members are unique.

Our financing model ensures that each individual within a group can access credit to grow their own business, while still benefiting from the group’s collective strength — so no dream is too small, and no member is left behind.

How the Financing Works

  • Formation of Groups – Members come together in micro credit groups (5–10 people), building trust and accountability.

  • Training & Capacity Building – Groups receive training on financial literacy, business planning, and record-keeping.

  • Individual Loans via the Group – Financing is extended through the group, but each member receives an individual loan for their business or farm project.

  • Repayment & Accountability – Members repay individually, but the group structure encourages discipline and mutual support.

  • Revolving Growth – As individuals repay, more members qualify for loans, creating a cycle of continuous growth.

Real Stories, Real Change

Sovia Musembi – Poultry Farmer

Sovia started with a few chicks and grew her venture into a thriving poultry business, now a trusted supplier in her community.

Mwania Mwongela – Butchery and Cereals Shop Owner

Mwania used his loan to expand his butchery and cereals shop. Today, it’s a successful business providing steady income and reliable service to his customers.

A Group That Grew Together

In Mbitini, 13 members invested in different businesses — from farming to retail. Within two years, everyone grew their income and savings, proving the power of working together.

The Bigger Picture

Today, over 350 members in 48 groups are part of our micro credit program. Together, they’re not just building businesses — they’re paying school fees, accessing healthcare, improving their homes, and investing in agriculture.

This isn’t just about loans. It’s about confidence, dignity, and the power of opportunity.

Looking Forward

At Bestrock SACCO, we believe that every person deserves a chance to dream — and the means to achieve it. We’ve seen how one small loan can spark a lifetime of change.

Now, it’s your turn to be part of this transformation.
